Discipling people, strengthening families, empowering communities, for Kingdom transformation.
Join Us in Restoring Hope for an Orphaned Generation
Together, we can help rebuild the emotional, spiritual, and physical inheritance lost to a generation impacted by HIV/AIDS and extreme poverty.
Challenge Ministries U.S. is a nonprofit dedicated to uplifting the orphaned, vulnerable, and rural communities most affected by poverty and HIV/AIDS in Eswatini. Our mission, rooted in the power of community and faith, is to disciple people, strengthen families, and empower communities, for kingdom transformation.
We work to restore the family unit and glorify God through church planting, community care, orphan care, family reunification, addiction rehabilitation, and sustainable enterprises.
To us, a transformed nation is one where hope-filled, vibrant communities are empowered to serve one another. We envision every person in Eswatini within walking distance of compassionate care, discipleship, economic opportunities, and education.
By realizing this vision, we aim to create a replicable model of rural community impact for Southern Africa and beyond.
Eswatini bears the grim title of having the world's highest HIV prevalence, at 27%. This epidemic has decimated the working-age population, leaving behind a generation of orphaned and vulnerable children. With over half the population under 21, Eswatini is home to approximately 364,000 orphaned and vulnerable children—nearly a third of its 1.2 million people.
Today, less than 12% of children in Eswatini grow up with both parents present. The country grapples with staggering unemployment—31%% overall, with youth unemployment soaring above 54%. A staggering 58.9% of the population lives below the poverty line.
Agricultural production is crippled by frequent droughts, erratic rainfall, and inadequate farming technologies, forcing Eswatini to rely heavily on imports to feed its people.
Since 1997, Challenge Ministries Eswatini has been at the forefront of responding to this crisis. By aiming to be within walking distance of every rural family and orphaned child, we believe that investing in their efforts can bring lasting change to this small nation.
In the U.S., we resource the incredible work happening in Eswatini, making a lasting impact on vulnerable children through comprehensive orphan care, family reunification, community development, education and training, and evangelism, and restorative discipleship. By supporting Challenge Ministries’ network, we equip individuals, families, and communities with the tools they need for growth and resilience.
We build churches that unite communities, combat food insecurity with sustainable farming, educate the young and vulnerable, and provide access to essential medical care. Together, we’re creating a brighter future and driving transformative change in Eswatini.

Want to make a difference in a child's life without committing to a monthly sponsorship? Consider a one-time donation to the Unsponsored Children’s Fund. This fund ensures that every child in Bulembu’s family-style homes receives the same high level of care, even if they don’t yet have a sponsor.
With less than 28% of children in Bulembu fully sponsored, your gift to the Unsponsored Children’s Fund will have a significant impact, providing essential support to those who need it most.
The Child Sponsorship Program is a powerful way to contribute to orphaned and vulnerable children in family-style care. Empower our mission of rescuing children, raising leaders, and rebuilding a community to transform a nation. Unlike traditional sponsorship programs, sponsoring a child in Bulembu goes beyond providing basic necessities like food, shelter, and clothing. Your sponsorship ensures long-term, sustainable care that addresses every aspect of a child's life—medical needs, nutrition, clothing, education, caregiving, and housing.
Join us in making a lasting impact. Co-sponsorship starts at just $35/month per child.
